A new generation of eco-energy street lamp is just released in Malaysia. This multi-function street lamp not only serves lighting purpose, but also equipped with mosquitoes catching and flood alerting functions. The product is the outcome of a joint-research between NIU Prof. Dr. Wang Chin-Tsan and University Malaya (UM) Prof. Dr. Chong Weng Ton.
Powered by wind-force and solar energy, these street lamps mimic the smell of human body, which can successfully capture mosquitoes to control the spread of Zika virus and Dengue Fever. This lamp has received 3 patens from UM CIC.
By the end of 2016, 100 lamps will be installed on Selangor Malaysia streets. This is a milestone of academic collaboration between NIU and UM.
