Last year, NIU launched the Turtle Island Literature Award to promote students using writing to express themselves. This year, NIU decided to publish the works of winning students as a reward and memory for them.
The school host a publish ceremony in the most historical campus building, the Wayo-Secchu (Japanese Hybrid Style) architecture. Many faculty members and awardees all attend this event. One winner who is Taiwanese aborigines presented a folk dance, which made the ceremony full of joy and energy.
General Education Council Director Prof. Feng-Jeng Lin and Center for Teaching and Learning Development Director Prof. Kai-Lih Chen in particular encourage teachers of the Center of Humanities and Science to continue this literature award because literature reading and writing are very beneficial for our students especially for non-literature background ones.
