[2017-10-12]Grand opening of Yilan Cypress Ecological Education Exhibition at NIU

NIU Department of Forestry and Natural Resources organized the Yilan Cypress Ecological Education Exhibition, which was opened to the public at the first floor of College of Bioresources building from Oct 6, 2017 for 1 year.

 

Taiwan Cypress is a type of acerose tree. It grows on the mountains of 1000~2600m altitude. Yilan county has very rich Cypress groups, and the quality of such trees make them high economic values products in Taiwan.

 

NIU was founded as Ilan State School of Taipei on Agriculture and Forestry since 1926. After 91 years, as the school’s valuable heritage, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources is well-known world-wide for its expertise in forestry. The Yilan Cypress Ecological Education Exhibition firstly was hold at the Lanyang Museum, and now with the support of NIU President Prof. Dr. Po-Ching Wu, it is opened to the public up to 1 year at NIU.

 

The exhibition is organized by Prof. Shu-Tzong Lin, Prof. Sheng-Fong Lo and their students. During the opening hours, there will be students from Department of Forestry and Natural Resources guide tourists showing them characteristic of Taiwan Cypress and the cultural impacts of Cypress industry in Yilan.
