[2017-10-19]Cultural Affairs Officer of American Institute in Taiwan visited NIU

Cultural Affairs Officer of American Institute in Taiwan, Director Eric B. Aldrich visited NIU in Oct 18. Dean Prof. An-Pan Cherng of Office of International Affairs welcomed him on behalf of the university.


This is the first time Director Aldrich came to National Ilan University. He said NIU’s location is perfect for students studying, which is quite and convenient. Dean Cherng first took Director Aldrich to the newly opened Yilan Cypress Ecological Education Exhibition. He was very interested in Yilan’s cypress culture and had actively asking questions with the exhibition organizer Prof. Shu-Tzong Lin.


After that, Director Aldrich paid a visit to a lab of Department of Biomechatronic Engineering. Students from the 21st TDK Taiwan Universities Robotic Competition Silver Medal winning team showed Director their automatic robot, and Director Aldrich was very impressed with NIU students’ knowledge and professional skills. Before leaving, Director Aldrich stopped by the annual NIU International Culture Carnival site and kindly talked to our students from Malaysia and other countries.


Through this visit, Director Eric B. Aldrich fully experienced the passion and high academic level of NIU faculties & students. He sincerely encouraged NIU could apply the Fulbright Program so that USA researchers may collaboration with NIU in the future.
