[2017-11-13]National Ilan University President and students are going to north Thailand for volunteer works

As a member of global community, National Ilan University formed an agriculture international volunteer group in 2015 and is going to north Thailand villages this Tuesday. This is the second time NIU conduct such international volunteer activity. The delegation leader is President Po-Ching Wu, members include Dean of Office of Students Affairs Prof. Hsin-Yun Lee, Prof. Ming-Yih Chang from Department of Biomechatronic Engineering, Prof. Hsiao-Hang Chung from Department of Horticulture, and 10 NIU students.

 

This time, NIU international volunteer group will work with faculties and students from Chiang Mai University, a top institution in Thailand. An Agriculture and Community Development Workshop will be hold at the Myanmar village in north Thailand. Both universities will work together in helping local farmers to improve their tea production process and to create special tea meals to attract tourists.

 

In addition, NIU delegation will visit partner universities Maejo University(MJU) and Chaing Mai University(CMU). President Po-Ching Wu will bring up innovative ideas of future students and faculties cooperation with both universities. He will also sign a student exchange agreement on behalf of NIU with CMU during this visit.

 

Rooted as an agriculture and forestry institution, President Wu said NIU is willing to serve its international social responsibilities through such volunteer works. After more than half year of trainings and preparation, the Delegation members, especially the students are so excited to start their journey. NIU group will departure on Nov 14 and return to Taiwan on Nov 23. We wish a successful visit and safe journey to them!
