This year, the Centre of I3E embark on an in-depth learning maker trial workshop "Woodturner Lathe Pen Workshop - Wood working Lace Pen".

After 18 hours of working, under the guidance of Sheng-feng Luo, associate professor and head of the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, wooden fountain pens, ball-point pens, mechanical pencils were successfully produced by using the remaining materials after the wood processing.

During their spare time, the students in Center of NIU I3E come up with ideas to launch some other creative souvenirs.

The souvenirs are designed by Chen-Yu Hu (Department of Horticulture). Jia-Chen Li (Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering) and Zi-Yan Wang (Department of Mechanical Engineering).

Using the laser engraving machine to put ideas into reality, they collaborated to produce a night lamp with I3E logo. I3E stands for Idea, Innovation, Implementation and Entrepreneurship, and they hope to convey these concepts and core values to the students during the workshop. They have received a lot of positive feedback from the students.

The NIU Center of I3E will continue to plan useful, interesting activities and to provide students opportunities to bring their creative ideas into reality.
